About American Terrain Solutions

We didn’t start a drone company. We had a bidding problem, solved it with a drone, and discovered everyone around us had the same problem.

Before bidding a right-of-way or a clearing job, you need to know what’s actually out there — canopy density, terrain, drainage, access. The traditional options are to walk it, which takes days you don’t have, or to price it off satellite imagery and a drive-by and hope the tract cooperates. Neither is great, and the second one is how contractors lose money.

So the drone came first, as a way to scope clearing and excavation jobs before bidding them. The data turned out to be worth more than the flights, and American Terrain Solutions was set up as its own company to fly it for anyone who needs the same answers — utility, dirt, and land clearing companies across North Texas.

That background is the whole point. We’re not a photography company that picked up construction vocabulary. We started on the contractor’s side of this data, pricing work off it, and that’s the standard every deliverable is built to: something you could actually bid a job from.

It also shapes what we’ll tell you. If aerial capture isn’t the right tool for your question, we’ll say so — and if what you actually need is a licensed surveyor, we’ll tell you that too. We’d rather be the company you call back than the one that sold you a flight you didn’t need.
