Material volumes make or break a bid, and rework off a bad estimate eats the margin you thought you had. Photogrammetry is the most economical way to get accurate volumetric and topographic data on open ground, which is why it's the default choice for dirt work where vegetation isn't hiding the surface.
The second value shows up later. Because every flight produces a dated, measurable record of the site, a re-fly at pay-application time gives you something better than an argument — it gives you two datasets you can difference. Contractors who fly monthly tend to spend a lot less time relitigating what moved. We capture with a DJI Zenmuse P1, a 45MP full-frame mapping camera with a mechanical shutter — the combination that keeps a moving aircraft from smearing the geometry you're about to measure.
Worth knowing
Photogrammetry needs to see the ground. Where canopy or heavy brush blocks the surface, LiDAR is the correct tool — and on mixed sites the two are often flown together.
