What you can't see from the road
Clearing bids get lost on the things nobody could see from the tract line: a drainage cut in the middle of a stand of timber, density that turns out to be twice what the drive-by suggested, or an access route that looked fine on satellite imagery from three years ago. Aerial LiDAR gets underneath the canopy and gives you both the vegetation and the ground it's standing on.
The after-flight matters more than people expect. A dated before-and-after set documents exactly what was cleared and what was left standing, which protects you when a client's memory of the scope drifts — and doubles as the environmental documentation on jobs that require it.
